PT Program Generator (PPG)
takes the programming work out
of programming. With PPG and
a supported EXPOTECH AND PSC
portable, you can begin tracking
inventory within hours, not
weeks, saving time and money.
PPG is a Windows-based portable
application generator that features
a graphical user interface (GUI)
that allows you to design customized
data collection applications
for EXPOTECH AND PSC portables
simply by creating, filling
in, and linking dialog boxes.
Once you've created your application
program, PPG automatically compiles
it into the format needed for
the portable. There's no difficult
programming language to learn!
Building an application with
PPG is like building a flow
chart. The logical building
blocks consist of frames, subroutines,
and nodes. You use these building
blocks to create a flow chart
that specifically defines your
data collection tasks.
Frames, subroutines, and operation
nodes can be created, edited,
and linked in any sequence to
fit your data collection needs.
You can quickly modify your
application as your work environment
changes. You have complete control
from start to finish.
Once you have designed your
application, all you need to
do is to install it on your
portable. When that's done,
you are ready to collect data.
PPG provides you with nine
types of nodes for defining
your program:
- Display nodes specify
the information that appears
on the portable´s screen
- Input nodes specify
where the information is coming
from and where it should be
stored
- Verify nodes check
the data against your predefined
criteria
- Copy nodes transfer
information from one file
or variable to another file
or variable
- Modify nodes allow
modifications to selected
data
- Math nodes perform
basic mathematical operations
- Output nodes transfer
data to specific destinations
- Menu nodes allow
the user to choose from menu
options by pressing a function
key
- Call nodes execute
a branch to a subroutine
Subroutines help you save time
as well as reduce a program's
size. Using subroutines you
can access and execute frequently
used program steps from different
areas within the program.
You will find that both PPG
and your EXPOTECH AND PSC portable
are extremely powerful, yet
simple to use. Their unmatched
performance can dramatically
increase your bottom line. Count
on it!
PowerNet Vision - Wireless
Network Management
PowerNet Vision expands your
field of view and extends your
management capabilities to include
your entire wireless infrastructure.
Vision is a 32-bit, Windows-based
net-work tool that eases the
burden of installing, administering,
and upgrading your wireless
systems. Vision supports all
major IEEE 802.11, 2.4Ghz, and
selected 900Mhz networks. PowerNet

of the Default Access Point.
The IP address of the new access
points are assigned based on
a range of IP addresses supplied
in the Subnet Address Assignment
Form.
Manually Configure Access
Points
PowerNet Vision also provides
three ways to manually configure
access points. Use the PowerNet
Vision standard parameters form
to supply the necessary settings,
then, based on the support offered
by the manufacturer, each access
point may be configured using
the Serial Interface, the Telnet
Interface, or SNMP.
Update Access Point Firmware
Using TFTP
Choose any access point from
the Network Tree View, then
click on the Update Firmware
option.
Manage Alerts
Automatically receive alerts
from access points and terminals,
and notify the administrator
through the PowerNet Vision
server display or automatically,
via email.

any selected device.
Extending the Enterprise
- Right into your hand
EXPOTECH full line of mobile
systems, including the new Windows
CE.NET 4410 and 4420, provide
the power, flexibility, and
ergonomics to optimize today's
retail systems. Working with
retailers and business partners,
We enable complete solutions
for improving customer service,
associate productivity, and
manager effectiveness.
Faster Check Out
Customers appreciate the convenience
of shorter check out lines.
Retailers prefer that their
customers spend more time shopping
and less time in line. By using
EXPOTECH mobile systems as part
of a Pre-Scan or Queue-Busting
application, the Point-of-Sale
can be extended out to the customers
in line. An associate can scan
in the purchased products suspending
the transaction for tender at
the front end or the transaction
can be completed on the spot
by adding payment and printing
peripherals. We are available
to assist retailers in determining
the optimal methodology to augment
their existing software and
operations to improve the customer
shopping experience.
Shopper Assistance
Customers are more comfortable
purchasing when they feel they've
made the right decision and
when they can find what they
want quickly and conveniently.
Associates can provide shopper
assistance by accessing important
product information, such as
price and location. Access to
this information can be extended
to include the entire enterprise
so the associate is knowledgeable
about the product availability
within the store, at other stores,
at the warehouse, and when inventory
will be replenished. Detailed
product information can also
be made available and will add
value to the shopping experience
when the consumer needs specific
product information to finalize
their purchase decision. Providing
the associate with access to
specific customer information,
including their preferences
and past purchases, will enable
targeted selling, increasing
both customer satisfaction and
the retailers revenue.
In-Store Productivity
By extending critical operations
information to the store managers,
they will be able to react more
quickly and even proactively.
Alerts can be sent to the manager
for POS override approval, without
requiring a trip directly to
the checkout. The manager can
remotely view POS key/screen
activity and CCTV cameras to
monitor potential shrink risks.
With EXPOTECH Value Added Features
built into the front-end scanners,
the manager can be forewarned
of impending scanner maintenance,
required cashier training, or
even alerted to security tags
that were deactivated without
a barcode being scanned. Extending
email messages and store operations
and flash reports to Falcon
mobile systems, enables store
managers to maximize their effectiveness
and efficiency while staying
on the store floor, helping
customers and associates.
Inventory Utilization
Mobile applications have long
been used in retail to increase
inventory accuracy. From basic
physical inventory and cycle
counts to sophisticated computer
assisted order entry, Our Falcon
products can help get a handle
on inventory movement. Shipping,
receiving, DSD, store transfers,
RTVs and other applications
can help ensure the right product
is in the right place at the
right time. The retailer can
also ensure that the right price
is always being used with price
verification. Mark-ups and markdowns
can be implemented interactively,
including on-the-spot label
printing for the shelf or the
item tag. Falcon mobile systems
increase the associates' productivity
through accurate, real-time
scanning and data entry, all
in a comfortable form factor
that can be used throughout
the entire shift.
Reduced Stock Outs
No one likes to hear, "sorry
we are out of stock." We
can help reduce stock-outs through
more accurate inventory management.
In addition, EXPOTECH can assist
in extending systems to enable
on-line enterprise-wide inventory
management systems, allowing
agile reaction to the retailers'
and customers' needs.
Network Management
Implementing networks and systems
to extend business critical
information into your hands
can be a challenge. EXPOTECH
has the expertise to analyze
and optimize your system/network
requirements with site surveys
and installation. Network management
tools can be used to monitor
and control wireless network
activity. FAST distribution
and systems management software
enables you to efficiently keep
your mobile systems continually
and automatically up-to-date.
Wireless LAN security can also
be optimized, using CISCO's
LEAP. Finally, EXPOTECH AND
PSC professional services can
tie the whole system together,
connecting technology to operations
in order to improve the retailers'
bottom line performance.
