Solving Data Collection
Needs
The Falcon 340 and 345 are
the most feature-rich members
of the growing family of feature
rich Falcon industrial handhelddata
collection terminals from EXPOTECH
AND PSC. They were designed
for easy integration in the
supply chain of companies involved
in logistics, manufacturing,
retailing, warehousing and distribution,
and in-store retail.
A Favorite Among Users
These sleek portable terminals
were ergonomically designed
with the end-user in mind. They
are the lightest weight unit
in their class, only 16.3 oz./465
g. Engineered to reduce fatigue,
this weight is ideally balanced
over the hand using a removeable
form-fit rubber-grip handle.
Combine this with an integrated
scan trigger, a large 16-line
back-lit display and three keypad
options and the user enjoys
hours of high performance data
collection.
No Lack of Performance Here
At the heart of the Falcon
340 and 345 portable data terminals
is a powerful 32 bit 486 class
processor, running at 33MHz,
with 8MB of RAM and 2MB of Flash
ROM. This flexible architecture
also supports an internal PCMCIA
Type II PC card for additional
memory or wireless LAN connectivity.
Because the Falcon 340 and 345
use a standard operating system,
DOS 6.22, you can run applications
previously developed for other
Falcon terminals and other DOS
terminals. Thin client systems
can be instantly integrated
with terminal emulation and
text browser support. You can
also use popular PC-based development
tools like EXPOTECH AND PSC's
Universal Program Generator
(UPG) to create custom applications
for your data collection needs.
Batch and Wireless Models
The Falcon 340 with the 486
processor and 8MB of RAM is
one of the most powerful batch
terminals on the market today.
Fast lookup and validation of
your data is critical to productivity.
The Falcon 345 sets the standard
for flexibility when it comes
to wireless communications,
providing connectivity for data
collection applications where
real-time information is critical.
The Falcon 345 can be configured
with any of the leading 2.4GHz
spread spectrum wireless LAN
solutions including Cisco Aironet,
Lucent (Agere) Orinoco, Proxim,
and Symbol.
Additional flexibility comes
when you can have a wireless
connection of the Falcon 345
terminals into your existing
legacy system. With our PowerNet
Twin Client product these new
Falcon terminals can support
VT100, VT220, HP700/92, IBM
3270 and IBM 5250 terminal emulation,
with screen formatter capabilities.

Portable Data Collection
Terminal Solution
Fast, accurate, customizable
real time Automatic Data
Collection this
is the need of today 's
businesses striving for
greater efficiency, productivity
and cost-effectiveness.
The Falcon series 320/325
by EXPOTECH AND PSC is
the answer. Open standards,
powerful applications
and ease of use allow
these portable data collection
terminals to integrate
seamlessly into the supply
chain of companies involved
in logistics, manufacturing,
retail, warehousing and
distribution.
Rugged enough for the
warehouse, but ergonomically
designed for ease of use,
the Falcon 320 and 325
offer a 16-line screen,
486-class processor, 33
MHz operating speed, integrated
scanning, and a user-accessible
PC Card slot. Their open
architecture affords easy
application development.
And the Falcon 325 is
available with PowerNet
Twin Client to support
VT100, VT220, HP700/92,
IBM 3270 and 5250 terminal
emulations, with screen
formatter, allowing swift
and simple integration
into your existing legacy
system.
While the Falcon 320
provides ideal batch data
collection solutions,
the Falcon 325, a wireless
data collection terminal,
is particularly ideal
for data collection throughout
the supply chain where
real-time access to data
is required. Our 2.4 GHz
spread spectrum radio
terminals have raised
the bar in information
management data collection,
allowing information to
be transmitted instantly,
in real-time, without
the use of wired connections.
With the international
quality standards set
by ISO 9000, Computer
Integrated Manufacturing
(CIM), Just In Time (JIT)
and Total Quality Control
(TQC), companies are required
to have documented procedures
and effective automated
data capture applications,
such as inventory control,
work in progress, labor
tracking, receive-putaway
and pick-ship systems.
The aptly named Falcon
soars in this tough environment.

LM520 Unattended Bar
Code Scanner
Compact, Complete Scanning
System
The LM520 Scanner is a
compact, decoded, single-line
scanner for fixed-position
or embedded applications,
such as conveyor, library,
document tracking, chemical
and blood analyzers, vending
machines, POS terminals,
and other attended or
unattended scanning applications.
The LM520 is a complete
scanning system, ready
to plug in and scan. The
LM520 presents a fast,
easy and low-cost way
to incorporate scanning
into any application where
you need to read a bar
code.
High Performance,
Reliable Scan Module
The LM520 scanner is
designed around EXPOTECH
AND PSC's LM500 Plus scan
module. Consistent, reliable
scanning performance is
achieved with its retroreflective
optical design, which
uses a frictionless, electromagnetic
dithering mirror to direct
laser light to its target.
This design is highly
reliable and consumes
less power than competitive
models.
Advanced RapidStart
circuitry creates the
fastest start-of-scan
in the industry, giving
snappy performance and
a reduction in misreads
at start up An impressive
read range, from 2.0 to
36.0 inches (5.1 to 91.4
cm) and excellent pitch
and skew angles makes
this scanner suitable
for many tightly specified
bar code reading applications.
Rugged Aluminum Enclosure
Measuring only 1.35 x
2.00 x 2.53 inches (3.4
x 5.1 x 6.4 cm) and weighing
only 5.4 oz. (153 g),
the compact LM520 fits
in almost any fixed-position
or embedded application.
And the LM520's rugged
extruded aluminum enclosure
protects the scanner from
mechanical shock, and
seals it from dust and
moisture.
Convenient Integration
Features
System integration is
made easy with the LM520's
unique mounting design.
Six mounting grooves,
in the scanner's sealed
enclosure, enable mounting
on any one of four sides.
A mounting kit, containing
special mounting studs
and lock nuts, come with
every scanner.
To assure reliable integration,
the LM520 scanner uses
an industry standard RS232C
interface, which allows
the scanner to be mounted
up to 50 feet (15.2 m)
from the host system.
Good read/no read result
switches make integration
with other automation
control equipment a snap.
These convenient design
features help reduce implementation
time and the costs associated
with developing complicated
integrated solutions.
Four separate Triggering
Modes
Four separate triggering
modes can be used to scan
a bar code:
An external switch,
such as an output line
from a Programmable
Logic Connector (PLC)
Software commands
from the host system
The LM520 can be set
to scan continuously
The LM520 also uses
a unique EXPOTECH AND
PSC motion detection
technique called LaserSense
to only scan when an
object is passed in
front of the scanner.
The various modes are
selected via host commands
or simple bar code programming
labels.
